Transportation, Entry and Dismissal Procedures
**Please note the Staff Parking lot and the bus loop are closed from 8:55 am - 9:15 am and again from 3:15 pm - 4:00 pm for the safety of our staff and students.
Bussing?
The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority is responsible for Bus route information, communicating cancellations and delays and determining eligibility for students to bus to school. You must sign up for the Parent Portal at the OSTA website to find your child’s bus route number and pickup time/location. We strongly encourage you to consider using the bus if you have a bus assigned to your child.
Walking?
The OSTA Walking Route Maps linked below are created to assist families in selecting safe walking routes and meeting spots. These maps indicate the safest and most direct routes to and from school and include the location of traffic lights and signs, crossing guards, and any hazards in the neighborhood. OSTA and the OCSB commit to supporting Active Transportation for students, acknowledging that walking to school is known to improve student health and readiness to learn. **Please practice your child’s walking route with them and review the OSTA Pedestrian Safety Tips for Children with them.
Parking and Walking-a-Block?
On days when your family needs to drive, please park a little farther away from the school and Walk-A-Block. Cars are not permitted in the bus loop or the staff parking lot during arrival and dismissal times. You are encouraged to use the public lot at the community centre or the public library. **Please practice your child’s walking route with them and review the OSTA Pedestrian Safety Tips for Children with them.
These procedures have been made in consultation with OSTA, the OCSB, the Ottawa Safety Council, the local Police, community partners and in consideration of parent concerns expressed in our School Climate Survey.
