Orange Shirt Day - Friday, September 29th
Good evening Good Shepherd Families,
Tomorrow Good Shepherd staff and students are invited to wear orange. By wearing an orange shirt (or anything orange, even a ribbon) on September 29th shows that you recognize the impact that residential schools have had on multiple generations of Indigenous families. It shows that we understand the need for reconciliation and that we are open to being part of the discussion about the effects of Residential Schools and the legacy they have left behind. It shows that we believe that every child matters!
Thank you,
Ms Cara Beaudette

Terry Fox Walk/Run at G.S.
Dear Good Shepherd Families,
It is fast approaching the time of year where our school community will be holding our annual Terry Fox Walk event! This year, the Walk/Run will be taking place on Tuesday, October 3rd (rain day will be October 4th), 2023. This will be the 43rd anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope in support of ongoing cancer research.
This school-wide event will be taking place in the yard and along adjacent paths with teachers supervising at several stations along the route. Students from K-6 will be able to walk or run at their own pace with their classmates, friends, or siblings. Please note that some of the stations in this event will be slightly off of school property. This means that all students need to have signed permission forms, which can be found in the parent portal. All forms must be submitted online this year in order for students to participate. We are excited to say that this event will be open to families this year to walk or run with your child! Please let your child’s teacher know if you wish to participate in this event!
We will be holding two “Spirit Days” to build additional enthusiasm for the event and donation drive. This Friday, September 22nd will be a Canada-themed day where students can dress in red and white because Terry Fox is a Canadian hero. Thursday, the 28th of September will be a sports-themed day where students can dress in their favorite team’s jersey or sports gear in honor of Terry Fox’s athleticism.
Our school community has always been very generous in supporting our Terry Fox Run/Walk. Cancer has affected many people we know in our families and community and we encourage you to consider donating in order to further research a cure. Our goal this year is to surpass $2,200 in donations. All funds received will go directly to the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research. Your donations help make a difference! Donations can be made directly online to our page by logging onto https://schools.terryfox.ca/35832/donate. Donations are eligible for a tax receipt which will be generated automatically and forwarded to you by email. Please do NOT send cash to the school.
Thank you for your continued support of this very important annual event.
On behalf of Good Shepherd Catholic School - THANK YOU!
