We are very excited to share all the details about Jingle Jam 2021, a virtual event that will take place each day between Dec. 6 and 10th, 2021.

Hello and Happy Advent!

It is hard to believe that we are a mere week away from the Jingle Jam. Because it is a virtual event again this year, we are planning an entire week of fun activities for the GS Community! Here is a breakdown of the events that we have planned throughout the week!

Draw—Kinder, Primary, Jr. for all kids + extra entries for those who submitted pics of completed crafts.

Candy Cane Train

From 6 -7:30

Draw for families who’ve sent in proof of participation in events.

Activity/Craft Bags

Bags will be distributed on Monday, Dec 6. They are similar to those we put together last year, and one addition this year is the button craft. The students are invited to wear them on Wednesday during Red and Green Day.

Christmas Trivia

Online, free Christmas trivia will be available to all families via Kahoot. The link will be sent to each family, and the game will open at 7 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 7th.

Participation Draws and Ongoing Entries

Although we can’t all be together we thought it would be fun to share the fun that our families have during the week. Every student will automatically be entered into a draw to win one of three $25 Indigo gift cards. Students can earn additional entries with each photo of their completed crafts sent to

A separate draw for an Ultimate Dining $50 gift card will also take place on Friday for families who share photos of their participating in the events. Please also send these photos to

Spirit Day

Red and Green Day - dress in red and green from head to toe on Wednesday, Dec. 8th!

Students are also encouraged to wear their buttons from the craft bags.

Candy Cane Train

Families are invited to use our specially prepared map and go for a stroll around Blackburn Hamlet, admiring Christmas lights and gathering candy canes at host locations (marked on the map).

This event will run Thursday, Dec 9, from 6-7:30 pm.

We have a few more surprises up our sleeves, and we’ll share them as the week unfolds.

  • Do you live in Blackburn Hamlet? Would you be willing to hand out candy canes to Candy Cane Train participants? If you would like to be a host location–we supply the candy canes–please email by December 1st to indicate your interest.

Disney Trivia Night

Good afternoon Good Shepherd Families,

Join Good Shepherd’s Parent Council for our first Family Trivia Night!

We’ll be celebrating all things Disney, with a Kahoot style trivia game. Compete with others in our GS community and enjoy a night of Disney Magic. Funds go towards Parent Council- Sponsored incentives and programs, including Luv 2 Groove, Scientists in the School and more. The Kahoot link will be sent out the day of the event.

This year we are excited to share that we have teamed up with Mabel's Labels to provide our families with a fun and easy way to stay organized and support the parent council all year long!

Simply click "Support a Fundraiser" and enter Good Shepherd Parent Council and a percentage of your purchase will go towards the Parent Council and the programming we do for our students!

FundScrip Fundraiser:

Our Parent Council has teamed up with a second year-round fundraiser to provide our families with an innovative way to support the Parent Council’s programming for our students – by purchasing gift cards for your everyday purchases (i.e. groceries, gifts, gas, household items.) Good Shepherd Catholic School Council is pleased to offer pizza lunches every Tuesday. We thank our good friends and partners at Pizza Pizza, offering $2.50 for a slice of Cheese pizza and $2.75 for a slice of Pepperoni

Please note: Should your child not be at school on a day lunch has been ordered, no refund will be provided.

The School Council is comprised of the school Principal, and members representing:

School Council meetings take place on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 pm via Google Meets.

If you would like to attend any School Council meetings, please contact Patti Linn, Chair, at to be added to the invitation list.

All parents/guardians are welcome to attend and join - we value your input.

School Council members provide input and advice to the Principal on topics such as:

  • local calendar of events and activities

  • school code of student behavior

  • school curriculum and program goals

  • selection of the Principal through the identification of a profile-type for the school

  • school budget priorities

  • school-community communication strategy ie methods of reporting to parents and the community

  • extra-curricular activities in the school

The School Council needs your voice, your input, your contribution to make the school better for all students, including yours!

Board-wide Parent Organizations

Catholic School Parents’ Association (CSPA)

The Catholic School Parents’ Association (CSPA) is a volunteer group representing all Ottawa Catholic School Board parents. They are a resource for school councils and the parent community for information on local and provincial education issues. Through their website, Twitter feed, and email newsletters, they we provide updates on education in Ottawa & Ontario, as well as tips, resources and information to help parents support their children in school. All parents are welcome and encouraged to join CSPA's e-mail list, follow CSPA on Twitter, or attend CSPA monthly meetings.

Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC)

The OCSB’s Special Education and Advisory Committee (SEAC) makes recommendations to the Board in respect of any matter affecting the establishment, development, and delivery of special education programs and services for exceptional pupils.

OCSB Parent Involvement Committee (PIC)

The Ottawa Catholic School Board Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) is a provincially mandated committee made up of parents, a trustee, a principal and the Director of Education. The purpose of PIC is to support, encourage and enhance parent engagement at the school board level in order to improve student achievement and well-being. The parent members of the OCSB PIC are appointed by CSPA.
